Pakistan’s former flamboyant all-rounder, Shahid Afridi suggested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to appoint either Misbah-ul-Haq or Younis Khan as their Under-19 team manager.
Afridi while talking to the media in Karachi said that it is really important to look after the Under-19 department in order to polish the youngsters for the future.
“The youngsters are looking forward to some more better opportunities to mend their playing techniques,” Afridi said.
The veteran batsman to a query regarding attaining the services of the former Test cricketer Sadiq Mohammad as U-19 team manager said that he respects Pakistani cricketing legends but Sadiq is not an ideal choice for this occupation.
“I respect Sadiq Mohammad as a former cricketer but want PCB to hire someone competitive for this post,”
He added that the PCB should plan something big to extract young talent from grass root level and to provide them opportunities on higher-level.
“Still there is something missing in between when it comes to our U-19 department. The PCB should pay serious attention towards it,” Afridi said.
Afridi on the other hand wished the national team captain Sarfraz Ahmed best of luck for the Asia Cup and asked him to continue leading the side from front.
He thinks that only Sarfraz can field his men into competitive and aggressive mood on the field.
“I think there is no need to tell anything to Sarfraz, so far he has done great job for Pakistan team,” Afridi stated.
